Ezio Carnevale Mask by Angelic-Artisan Ezio Carnevale Mask by Angelic-Artisan
| Walkthrough of this Mask |

My first try at replicating Ezio's carnivale mask from his stint in Venice in Assassin's Creed 2. This is the first mask he acquires in order to hide himself while avoiding the authorities and taking part in Venice's festival to get closer to his mark.

This was quite a challenge, considering you can't really make out the designs from the game itself! I had to make up a lot of the intricacies in the swirls along the way as well as the part the hood covers.

It's quite a masculine mask for quite a masculine character so I'm pondering making a more feminine cut of it. I'd also like to try replicating the gold mask he acquires, but that will take some doing in leather, since it's a full faced mask.

Carved from 8 oz. leather and painted with acrylics.

Ezio Auditore da Firenze, mask design, & Assassin's Creed 2 Ubisoft

Hah wow. This has been misspelled for so long and you are the first to point it out. Thanks! I've fixed it in the title, at least. I'll have to go back and edit the image file later.

I have uploaded the picture. The hood covers the top part so thats annoying, I can see that was a problem with this one for you
Sorry

Aah yes that's the same picture from the Assassin's Creed Encyclopedia! It was referred to as the 'golden' mask for the champion in AC2 and it appeared as shimmering in the game, if memory serves. From that concept art, though, it does appear to be a mix of gold, white, and a few color accents. It's going to be quite a challenge to get that shape in leather. It seems more suiting to try paper mache, which I'm not too familiar with.

Thanks very much! Though I have to wonder about the legality of posting images from the encyclopedia here. Might get you banned if you're not careful.

That's perfectly fine as long as you credit and link back to me. I'd love to see the pictures you took of his cosplay! I might ask to post them on my studio page too, if that is ok (with credit back to you of course;)).

Original color? I'm not quite sure what you mean. I used Midnight Black Eco-flo leather dye and Bright Silver Liquitex paint for this particular mask.

Oh sweet! This is made in leather? Gosh- it must be way easier than making it in clay like I am. XD LOTS of sanding and whatnot to do on that one- and the nose is not as excellent as this one! I would totally buy this mask if I could because it looks so well made~ Awesome deviation and photography! Wish I had your skills. XD

Wow, I can't imagine making this in clay! Though I bet you can get a great amount of detail doing it that way, even if it's a bit heavy?

Glad you like this! Leather's actually quite easy to get into, if you ever wanted to try it! I got my starting tools at Hobby Lobby. :3

There are some made by actual mask guild members that are only available via specialty stores, but there's plenty of loners like me out there too who picked it up as an odd hobby one day! A year or so ago, I would've thought the same thing (that I'd only be able to find venetian masks at a World Market instead of making one of my own!)
