A prototype 'specimen' I finished tonight! I thought it might be interesting to evolve my butterfly keychains into something to hang on the wall. If you buy this listing, you'll have the honor of having my very first one! If it sells, I may have to do more!
This is a 5x5 inch (12.7x12.7 centimeters) artwork that was made by meticulously carving the butterfly form into 7 oz leather. The butterfly was then painted by hand with acrylics and sealed with Satin varnish. The wings are glazed with interference paint so that they possess an iridescent gleam. The artist's signature and date have been burned in with a wood burner.
The frame itself can stand up on its own or be mounted on the wall.
