Introducing a new style of my butterfly and moth masks, featuring the full wing span of these elusive creatures! The popular luna moth is the first in what will be a series of full face masks that are carefully cut out to accurately portray the outer fringes of their intricate wings.
Unlike the generically shaped full butterfly masks you can get at the costume stores, this one is custom cut to suit the species of butterfly or moth it portrays and painted by hand to accurately mimic the markings of the butterfly or moth in nature, right down to the iridescent bits.
Carved from 7 oz. leather, painted with acrylics, and sealed with a protective layer of varnish. It is backed in key places with moleskin so that it is comfortable to wear. It is held to the face with adjustable elastic, which you can re-size by tightening the knot in the desired position. Signed and dated by the artist on the backside.
Leather is a breathable material that conforms to the wearer's face after time, making it perfect for masks! It also lasts a lifetime, if not left in the sun, hot and dry places, or dunked in water. A little rainfall shouldn't hurt it, but don't go swimming in it or the shape could become malformed.

This is so elegant! Have you ever thought of doing other silk moths aside from this one? An Atticus Atlas would be lovely in mask form, or at least i think it would.
