Art To Be Bought : August 2010
The things featured here are those of the artworks that are currently being sold by deviantART artists and which have been added to ArtToBeBought in the first half of August 2010. The explanation for the complete lack of jewelry in this feature is that so much has been submitted to this particular category recently that the next feature will be of only jewelry. I hope you will enjoy these lovely works even if you're not looking to buy. :)
And if you want to help make sure that as many as possible get to see these works, please fave this article (to the left). :)

Artisan of the Month! I’ve featured this artisan before, but Cyndy Salisbury has been creating even more amazing masks since then! I love the dreamlike quality and texture of her masks with so many fragile seeming details.

I transfer my love of painting fantasy art onto the canvas of leather.

Currently based in Atlanta, Georgia, I learned my trade from the tutorials of Andrea Masse-Tongetti (also known as Merimask). Andrea's techniques helped me to finally discover an outlet for my love of the symbolism and beauty of masks, which I had previously only explored via my writings and illustrations.

I have been crafting masks ever since that very first experiment in 2009. I work as a fantasy illustrator by day, where my love of Art Nouveau and Romantic art inspires my leather crafts.

My leather items are meticulously carved by hand, soaked in water, and baked in the oven to harden them. After hardening, I paint my items by hand, where I get to have the real fun of the entire process. For more info, see my FAQ.

You can watch videos of my process on YouTube:…

If you're curious about my illustration work, you can find it at AngelaSasser, while you can read my writings at AngelaSasser-story.

Are you a photographer looking to add interesting photography of masks to your portfolio? Check my website for details on how we might be able to work together!
